Tiramisu and Homemade Savoiardi (Lady Fingers)

I made this cake for my older sister's birthday, surprising her on the day with a plain white box tied with golden trimmings.
She thought I bought it from some dessert shop!
There's a compliment hidden somewhere there...it meant she thought it looked good enough to be in a shop:) An even better compliment though was that she had three other cakes given by friends and family but my Tiramisu was polished off first;)

This was a labor of love...considering I had to make everything from scratch!
Well, not the mascarpone cheese because I was pressed for time but I was going to. I'll definitely try making my own next time I do this cake.
I dusted the top with dark cocoa powder and dark chocolate curls for that extra pizazz!

Sweet Pea and Potato Soup with Bacon and Rye Bread

The Garden is in Bloom!

If I had a meadow, I would fill it with wild flowers and set aside a patch for sunflowers;)
The kind that towers over you and the blooms are larger than your face...

Anyway, these are just some of the flowers that I've been growing in my garden.
Ornamental, fruit or vegetable flowers.
Some of them are weeds, pretty weeds...
So I keep them anyway...

Herb Roasted Turkey Leg

Trio of Homemade Salad Dressings!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVEEE salads...
Salad for breakfast, salad for lunch, salad for dinner, salad for snacks...

But since I eat so much of it, I mix it up always so to keep things interesting. Here's a trio of dressings that goes well with any mound of salad greens;)
Sweet and tangy honey-balsamic vinaigrette...
Sour, creamy, salty with a hint of sweetness and a kick makes up my yogurt-feta and honey garlic dressing...
Refreshing passion fruit with licorice-y fennel dressing...

Braised Lamb Shank in Red Wine Sauce with Mashed Parsley Potatoes and Green Beans

Comforting, rich and oh-so-good...

Retail Therapy

This is my kind of retail therapy...
I can feel the tendrils of stress slowly lifting away as I peruse through the market and get inspired by all the colors, textures and flavors.

Well, that and having no plans at all other than curling up with a thick book and a large cup of coffee.

Rye Bread

I'm thinking of using this for my jalapeno and bratwurst grilled sandwiches...
Topped with vintage cheddar, a heaping spoonful of sweet, caramelized onions and a dollop of grainy mustard.
Hmmm...
Sounds good, got to go!
